4) CDC speaks to FQN at GFSI conference
Food safety is not ruled in by boundaries and co-ordination between different agencies was (and we suspect still is) a big message from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
We spoke exclusively to Dr Ian Williams, chief of the Outbreak Response and Prevention Branch at the National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases, at the GFSI conference in Barcelona.
Identifying the source of an outbreak, working with regulatory agencies and industry to get food off the market and stopping people getting sick are “key issues”.
Look out for FoodQualityNews.com at the GFSI conference in February 2014 in Anaheim, Califonia.
