Is sustainability a priority for stevia users?

Stevia supplier PureCircle has released sustainability goals for 2020 - but is sustainability really top-of-mind for stevia users? And why does the company define calorie reduction as part of sustainability? FoodNavigator speaks with PureCircle's corporate sustainability director, Ajay Chandran.

Chandran says that many food and drink companies have their own sustainability goals, so partnering with a supplier that outlines its water and carbon footprint can help them reach their own targets.

As for the inclusion of calorie reduction in PureCircle's sustainability objectives, he explains that the company's aims include benefits from a public health and social perspective, on top of goals related directly to the environment.
