Avebe wins big Valley prize

Avebe has won the 2009 Food Valley Award for its Etenia line of starches from potatoes, said to be an alternative to gelatine and an E-number-free natural texturiser.

The line was developed by Avebe in partnership with DSM Food Specialities, after the two companies entered into a strategic partnership in 2007. The ingredient can be used in dairy and bakery products, ice cream, spreads and bakery margarines.

Commenting on the award, which rewards the Dutch industry’s most innovative and sustainable technologies, Gerben Meursing, Avebe’s commercial director, said: “Avebe is excited about the great potential that the Etenia range has for the growth of our business.”

Meursing added that the award “will be another strong demonstration of the innovative range and portfolio of Avebe within the marketplace”.
