Nestlé has announced a CHF 29m (€23.3m) investment in its Russian distribution facilities, citing increased demand for its products in Russia.

The investment will extend the company’s distribution centre at its manufacturing site in Vorsino in the region of Kaluga, and will bring a wide range of Nestlé products to consumers in Russia and other Commonwealth of Independent States countries. The centre will distribute all dry grocery items that Nestlé sells in Russia, such as Nescafé coffee, Maggi products, Nestlé infant nutrition and Bistroff cereals, as well as a range of pet food products.

CEO of Nestlé in Russia Maurizio Patarnello said in a statement: “We are taking an important step to strengthen our supply chain in Russia…We believe in Russia’s long-term potential, which is why we continue to invest in the development of local facilities.”

The expansion is expected to create about 100 jobs by the time the expanded facility opens in October, the company said.

The investment follows the opening of an extended pet food facility, also located in Vorsino, which is about 90km outside of Moscow.
