Irn-Bru maker AG Barr has appointed Stuart Lorimer as finance director and he will join the soft drinks firm following a handover period at current employer Diageo.

As previously announced, current finance director Alex Short will leave AG Barr at the end of August 2014 to take up a new position at Scottish distiller Edrington Group.

The appointment is quite a coup for Barr, since Lorimer is currently finance director of Diageo’s £4bn ($6.6bn) Global Supply Operations, and has spent 22 years at that firm.

AG Barr CEO, Roger White, said: “Alex leaves the business shortly with our very best wishes to take up his new role at the Edrington Group.

“We are delighted to announce the appointment of Stuart Lorimer, who is an outstanding finance professional. We very much look forward to him joining the business,” White added.
